Mr. MacCaigh doesn’t just write sea stories; he’s lived them. He enlisted in the US Navy at age seventeen and went to sea at eighteen. He served aboard a destroyer in combat, and “sailed the seven seas.” His general quarters (aka battle) station on the “tin can” was inside the forecastle gun—directly below the author photo.

He also worked aboard a “laker,” an iron-ore bulk carrier on the North American Great Lakes (photos below), and crewed on private yachts.

He has held industrial and factory jobs, authored articles in magazines and newspapers, written three novellas, and earned an honors BA degree in English literature and creative writing from the State University of New York.

This is his first full-length novel.
